Why doesn't a new subscription count as active right away?

A subscription paid with iDEAL, Wero or Bancontact only counts once Mollie confirms its mandate, which can take a few days. Until then Subscriptions shows the row, but Home and Subscribers do not count it yet.

Progus Subscriptions bills iDEAL, Wero and Bancontact subscriptions through Mollie, running next to Shopify's own card subscriptions. A subscription only counts as active, wherever the app counts subscriptions, once its own engine says so, and a brand new Mollie subscription needs a few days before it can say that.

A subscription placed through the iDEAL, Wero or Bancontact button is billed through Mollie. It gets its own row on Subscriptions immediately, with an ID that starts with M. Its status badge reads Waiting for direct debit, not Active, until Mollie confirms the SEPA direct debit mandate behind it.

That confirmation is not instant. Mollie is rechecked on a schedule that stretches out to about six days before the subscription either turns Active or ends at Direct debit failed. Only a subscription whose status is actually Active counts toward Active subscriptions on Home, so one still waiting for its mandate does not add to that number yet, even though it already has a row on Subscriptions.

Subscribers counts differently again: it lists one row per customer, not per subscription. If someone already has a subscription and starts a second one, on either engine, it raises the counts on their existing row instead of creating a new one.

To check one subscription directly, open Subscriptions and search the customer's email to find their row and read its status badge.
