A product rotation sends something different with each delivery. You list the products in the order they should go out, and every time a subscription on that plan renews, the customer moves to the next one. After the last one it starts again from the first.
It suits a discovery box, a tasting series or anything where the point is variety rather than the same parcel every month. It is on every plan, the Free one included, and it works on both billing engines.
Go to Automations, click Add automation and pick A different product every delivery. Give it a Rotation name for yourself, then pick the Subscription plan it applies to.
One plan takes one rotation, so if every plan already has one you edit an existing rotation rather than adding another.
Add at least two products under Rotation products and arrange them with Move up and Move down. That order is the order they go out in, and the list loops.
Include the product the plan itself sells. A rotation only starts once the customer's current product is on the list, so leaving it off means nothing happens for the people already subscribed. The form warns you when that is the case.
While a rotation is on, customers cannot swap products on any subscription on that plan. The two would fight: a rotation decides what comes next, and a swap lets the customer decide instead. Other plans are unaffected, so you can rotate one plan and let customers swap on another.
The rotation advances on the renewal, not on the checkout order. The first delivery is whatever the customer bought.
A redelivered webhook cannot advance the same subscriber twice.
Turning the rotation off leaves subscribers on whatever product they are currently on, and gives them the swap button back.
What actually happened is in Automations → Activity, one row per advance.
Check the order of the list against how you want the story to read: the second box is the one that decides whether someone stays.
If you would rather the customer chose, use "Let customers swap products" instead. You cannot have both on one plan.
Running a curated box with a shared shipping date instead? That is a Club, not a rotation.
