A customer who has store credit in your shop can see that balance inside their subscription in the customer account. It is shown there so they know the credit exists when they look at their next order. It is a display only: the app reads the balance and never spends it.
The credit itself lives in Shopify, not in Progus Subscriptions. You create it in the Shopify admin on the customer profile, or it appears when a refund is returned as store credit. The app shows the balance held in Shopify. There is nothing to top up or to configure in the app, and the app never changes the balance. A customer with credit in more than one currency sees only one balance.
Open Settings → Customer Portal and find Show store credit balance for upcoming orders under Upcoming orders actions. It is off out of the box. While it is off the section is not rendered at all, so the customer sees nothing about credit. Turn it on and click Save.
The customer opens Subscriptions in their account and then View details on one subscription. At the end of the overview card, after the delivery and payment details, sits Store credit with the line Available balance and the amount, formatted in the currency of the credit account. There is no button and nothing to click. The block only appears when the customer actually has credit, so most subscribers never see it.
Store credit is shown for information only. It is not applied to renewals, and the customer has no way to spend it from this screen. Whether a credit balance ever pays for an order is decided by Shopify, outside this app. Store credit is also not mentioned in any subscription email we send.
Subscriptions billed through Mollie appear in the customer account as a simpler card, and the store credit block does show there when the setting is on. It is read-only: the card carries a note saying the balance cannot be applied, because those orders are charged by SEPA direct debit through Mollie rather than paid at a Shopify checkout. The customer can see what they have; they just cannot spend it on that subscription.
Check the balance yourself: it is on the customer card of a subscription and in the Store Credit column of the Subscribers page.
Leave the setting off if your credit is meant for one-off checkouts only, so subscribers are not led to expect it on renewals.
The two labels are translated in most languages of the customer account. Six of the twenty-seven fall back to English.
